Kaia was born on July 25, 2004 at 29 weeks gestation. He weighed a little over 3 pounds and was a miracle baby from the start.

At 29 weeks, most preemies can expect to spend months in the NICU. Kaia didn't. He didn't require a ventilator or any of the myriad of equipment that so many need to survive. He was there for 3 weeks, had jaundice... and then came home.

He's been home with us since. He's 6 now and aside from a speech delay and a need for glasses, he's a fairly normal kid. He wants to be Edward Cullen when he grows up. And if he can marry Buffy, his life will be complete.
